Florida police chief shares tips to protect vehicles after arrests made in rash of car break-ins


The video for this story will be added soon.A man is behind bars accused of breaking into several vehicles in a Port St. Lucie neighborhood, and now the police chief is sharing important tips you can follow to help you take steps to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of property crime. Investigators say 30-year-old Austin Brommer of Ormond Beach went from vehicle to vehicle in Heritage Oaks in Port St. Lucie on the night of Jan. 5, seeing which vehicles were unlocked. Police say he burglarized five of those vehicles and attempted to burglarize two others. The two vehicles he did not break into, according to police, were locked, while the vehicles he broke into were unlocked.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WPBF 25 Items including a handgun, credit cards, a set of gold clubs, binoculars, AirPods, Beats earbuds, charging cables and wallets were stolen.Police say surveillance video captured Brommer burglarizing a vehicle. Surveillance video also captured 27-year-old Taylor Weir of Titusville using a stolen credit card at a nearby Racetrac gas station later that night. Police say the stolen cred cards were also used in Stuart, Jupiter, Hollywood and Pembroke Pines.Surveillance cameras also captured images of their car and license plate.
