This week’s top football playoff games | Sports

Eight local high schools qualified for the FHSAA state playoffs but now only two remain. Once again, the playoffs are a great accomplishment. Here is a look at this week’s playoff games.

Sebring (9-2) at Mainland (10-1) at Municipal Stadium: Mainland rallied past Rockledge 22-14 last week while Sebring bested Eau Gallie 21-12. These are two talented squads. The Bucs lone lost was to Lake Mary (Class 4M) while Blue Streaks lost to unbeaten Lake Wales 7-0 (3S) and Clearwater Catholic 38-20 (1M). Mainland wants to avoid a slow start in this one and will rely upon its stars LJ McCray, Zavier Mincey, DJ Murray, Rodney Hill, Christian Hudson, Ramon McCullough, E’zaiah Shine, Elijah Walker and company to get it done. The winner advances to the Class 3S semifinals next week.

DeLand (9-2) at Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast (9-2): DeLand beat University 31-13 while Treasure Coast topped Vero Beach 21-12 last week. The Bulldogs are underdogs on the road against the Titans. DeLand has bonafide stars in quarterback T J Moore and slotback Javon Ross. Can they find a way? The winner advances to the Class 4S semifinals.
